India, Kuwait ink three
agreements

Giving a new dimension to their relations,
India and Kuwait signed three pacts forstrengthening
cooperation in science and technology, education and culture
as they pledged tocontribute to each other's well being and
prosperity.A joint India-Kuwait Committee will be set up for
scientific cooperation which will meet everyyear. The two
sides will also exchange scientists and information among
institutions under theagreement, officials said here. The
agreements were inked in the presence of Vice-President
Hamid Ansari, who is on a three-day visit here. Under the
education and learning executive program, the two countries
will exchange books, research and study material as well
asexperts in general and specialized education.Students will
be taught about the history, heritage and geography of the
each other's countriesas part of the curriculum and take
part in sports, cultural and other events there.Information
will be shared on equalisation of each other's school
certificates and diplomas.

India welcomes investment
by Kuwait in petroleum sector

Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, on a three-day visit
to Kuwait, addressed themembers of Chamber of Commerce here
on Tuesday.Foreign direct investment in petroleum and
fertilizer sector from Kuwait formed the core ofdiscussions
in the meeting.Assuring the safety of all sorts of
investments to be made in India by Kuwait, Ansari
promisedthat if Kuwaiti companies invest in fertilizer
sector, then India can buy their produce within thenation
itself.The Kuwaiti ministers took Ansari’s proposal
positively and revealed that a delegation fromKuwait would
soon visit India to do a feasibility study.Ansari, who is
representing India in its first high-profile visit to Kuwait
in nearly three decades,on Monday had asked for support of
Kuwait in forging a common, comprehensive approach todeal
with terrorism.He also
favoured greater cooperation with the oil-rich Gulf country,
especially in thefield of science and technology and
education.
