Business Council hosts Farewell meet for Indian Ambassador |

|
Indian Business Council, Kuwait held a farewell dinner for H.E.
Swashpawan Singh, Ambassador of India to Kuwait and Mrs (Dr)
Preeti Singh at The Palms Hotel on Thursday, October 13, 2005.
A galaxy of Ambassadors, prominent Indian Businessmen,
professionals and entrepreneurs attended the meet.
The Meeting observed one minute’s silence in remembrance and
prayers for all those who lost lives, shelter and other
belongings due to the devastating earthquake in Northern India
and neighbouring Pakistan. |

General Secretary Mr.
Abhay Mehta, during his address briefed about the activities of
IBC and highlighted the pivotal role that Ambassador Singh
played as a patron and guiding force to the council. “His
exceptional drive, initiatives and tap on the economic data,
brought focus on India as the vibrant economy of the decade”
Mehta added.
The Chairman Mr.
S.K. Wadhawan, welcomed the Ambassador and all the distinguished
guests at the gathering. He narrated Ambassador’s contributions
to the entire community including the workers and lower income
members. He lauded the Ambassador’s efforts to improve the
services at the Embassy. |

Mr. M. Mathew Senior
Advisor IBC, brought out Ambassador Singh’s achievements to
further develop the friendly relations between India and Kuwait.
His concern for the larger section of Indian community and
efforts to stop unjust practices affecting Indian workers were
praised.
In his address, Ambassador Swashpawan Singh thanked IBC for the
honour bestowed upon him and his wife. He appreciated the role
of senior members of Kuwaiti society in developing India –Kuwait
relations and appealed to IBC to encourage the younger
generation to interact with younger Kuwaiti generation and
project the positive issues of Kuwait and India relations
particularly, opening of Indian economy and immense Economic
opportunities for investment., global perception and cultural
relations of two nations.
He emphasized on
the role that each Indian can play in developing the strategic
partnership and use of the available synergy of the two nations.
A true democracy with freedom of speech of one Billion people
cannot be ignored by any economic power, besides his advice for
future role for IBC were the conclusive remarks of Ambassador
Swashpawan Singh.
Mr. Sadiq Al-Mutawa
Chairman, The British School of Kuwait and a well known Kuwaiti
businessman, appreciated the role of Ambassador Singh during his
tenure in furthering the bonds of friendship and starting
interaction with Kuwaiti Businessmen. |

'Mr. Lamba, a Senior
Advisor of IBC thanked the Ambassador and urged for donations
for the victims of recent Earthquake.
A momento was
presented to the outgoing Ambassador by the Indian Business
Council and Mrs. Preeti Singh was welcomed by a bouquet of
flowers by the Ladies of IBC.
The meeting
concluded by lively concluding remarks and thanks by Jt.
Secretary Mr.Ramesh Kohli. He wished Ambassador Singh all the
success in his next assignment as India’s Ambassador to United
Nations at Geneva. The meeting was followed by gala dinner at
the poolside. |
